Some of Our Community Projects and DonationsSince we opened the store in 2003, OFF'N RUNNING has been dedicated to supporting local organizations and our wonderful park systems. Since 2003 we have donated over $30,000 to several projects/organizations. Below are some of our most recent projects/donations.... Greensboro BarkPark - $4,000
BarkPark is Greensboro's first off-leash dog park. A dog park is a dedicated area where responsible pet owners and their off-leash dogs can gather for exercise and socialization. The City of Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department has allocated land (approximately 6 acres) for the creation of the BarkPark at Country Park. The park was established in March 2003. To date OFF'N RUNNING has donated over $4000 to Greensboro's BarkPark. Bur Mil Park - $3,800
Bur Mil Park is a jewel in the Greensboro Park System. We are proud to be supporters of Bur Mil Park and have purchased several pieces of equipment for the park since 2003. We purchased two water fountains (one at the Greenway trail head and one located at the shelters by the pool). We also purchased the new entrance sign to the park. Greensboro Country Park - $4,000
County Park is another great park in our park system. Country Park is located only .5 miles from OFF'N RUNNING so it is home to our Thursday groups runs. We are happy to support many events in Country Park and have purchased several new additions to the park. We purchased grills for the shelters, a new message board by the Orman Road gate and new benches new to the Orman Road entrance. Greensboro Trails Division - $3,000
We love our trail system in Greensboro. We are lucky to have over 35 well maintained hiking, running, mountain bike trails. We have been supporters of the trails since 2003. We hold several events annually on the trails. Some of our trail projects include purchasing lumber and building a new bridge on Osprey Trail, paying for the printing of trail maps/brochures, sponsoring National Trails Day. Team in Training/Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - $2,500
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training is the world's largest endurance sports training and fund raising program. Since 1988, more than 300,000 volunteer participants have helped raise more than $700 million for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma research and patient services. Hurricane Katrina Relief/American Red Cross - $2000
Like most of the country we were horrified with the effects of Hurricane Katrina. In 2005 we used $2000 of the proceeds from the Cannonball Run to support hurricane relief through the American Red Cross. Jesus is Our Victory Church - 2,000Jesus is Our Victory Church organizes several medical missions to underprivileged areas. Team Erica - National MS Society - $3000
Team Erica is a local cycling group organized by Ron Booker to raise funds for the national Multiple Sclerosis Society. Team Erica is one of the larges teams in the annual Tour de Tanglewood. They are also one of the largest fundraising groups raising over $35,000 in 2006 and plan to raise nearly $100,000 in 2007. Bike and Build - $1400
Bike & Build organizes cross-country bicycle trips which benefit affordable housing groups. Think of Bike and Build as the Habitat for Humanity for the cycling enthusiast. We were excited to support our local riders (Rae Wheelock and Bronwyn Corry) who wanted to see the country (on bike) and help build affordable housing for those in need. Victory Junction Gang Camp - $1500
The Victory Junction Gang Camp enriches the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment. OFF'N RUNNING is a sponsor of their annual Run to Victory Half Marathon held every December. GoFAR (Go Out For a Run) - $750
GoFar is a program to teach kids about the benefits of exercise and good nutrition. Typically the program is offered free of charge to middle school age children. We have been a financial supporter of the Colfax GoFar program as well as the program and 5k race at High Point University. Rockingham County Cross Country Team - $750
We support several of our local high school teams and organizations. We have been supporters of Rockingham County Cross Country team and their fundraising efforts to make repairs and improvements their school track and cross country course. Lambda Chi Alpha - $500
Lambda Chi Alpha is a social and service fraternity. In 2005 we donated $500 for their North American Food Drive. Mammography Scholarship Fund - $500
The Mammography Scholarship Fund assists in the diagnosis, treatment and
support of breast cancer patients. OFF'N RUNNING is a proud sponsor of this
fund.
